Our experienced midwives focus on the specific needs of each client throughout care. Each brings extensive experience caring for thousands of unique clients. We are dedicated to serving all families regardless of ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, immigration status, financial barriers, or physical ability.
Entrusting us with your safety
Research shows that birth centers are a safe option for healthy, low-risk pregnancies. Seven Sisters Midwifery takes a comprehensive screening approach to ensure clients are meeting appropriate risk thresholds for care with our team at every stage--pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum.
In the rare event they are needed, the Birth Center stands prepared with essential medications, emergency equipment, and staff trained to manage complications. We are located just 1.2 miles from Cooley Dickinson Hospital, where we maintain close working relationships with the hospital’s staff, midwives, and physicians. This allows for seamless transfer of care via EMS should the need arise.
I feel so lucky to have experienced pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum days in the care of the midwives at Seven Sisters. Each prenatal visit made me feel heard and reassured, and brought chances to personally connect with each midwife -- so that when the time came to call the birth center between contractions, it was a familiar voice on the line no matter which midwife was on call. I felt respected, supported, and celebrated by my midwife while laboring, who provided just the right amount of expert coaching to guide me through an incredibly empowering birth experience. And each time we returned to the birth center during the first months of our son's life, we were welcomed by the midwives who had been caring for him since he was the size of a plum -- greeted with smiles, hugs, and a genuine care for how he (and we!) were doing. Where else could we feel so held through all of the phases of bringing our baby into the world?

I had a challenging labor and through their incredible skill, compassion, and attention I was able to achieve an unmedicated birth. Each visit was relaxed and my partner and I got a chance to ask every question we had (we had a lot!). I ended up needing an emergency C-section, and was transferred smoothly to Cooley Dickinson. The midwives were very present through the whole transfer, stayed at the hospital until the baby was born, and visited the next day.
