Our mission is to promote wellness by providing exceptional client-centered gynecological, pregnancy and birth care as Western Massachusetts’ only midwife owned and operated, independent birth center.

We are advocates for the midwifery model of care and its ability to radically improve outcomes for birthing families. Our vision is to not only serve local families, but to also be catalysts for change in maternity care more broadly. We are dedicated to participating in research, educating future midwifery care providers and for advocating for at-risk populations.

We hold bodily autonomy as an essential human right and endeavor to provide care that is positive, transformative and empowering. We recognize that pregnancy and birth are formative peak experiences in life and encourage our clients’ education, personal responsibility and agency in their care.  We promote a safe environment where each client’s unique needs are not only met, but also celebrated.

"In our environment of high costs health care, a climbing Cesarean section rate, and increasingly short appointments from local providers, Seven Sister Midwifery and Community Birth Center offers a unique, patient-centered, and highly valuable resource for our region."

Carolyn Delk, DO, OB-GYN

“As the state-wide consumer advocacy group for access to midwives and out-of-hospital birth options, [we] envision a future where any family in Massachusetts has access to the birth setting of their choice supported by high quality providers. This birth center furthers that vision.”

Judy Norsigian, Dr. Eugene Declerq and Emily Anesta, Bay State Birth Coalition

"Even just arriving at the birth center in active labor and seeing the two midwives that I knew really was familiar faces in a familiar location. It felt home-like so I was able to stay in the zone very easily. The biggest difference in the birth center is that they encourage you to listen to your birth instincts."

Kristen Newton, DO

“My CNM team, which included Kirsten, was consistently supportive and subtle, just the perfect balance to let my body do what it knew how to do. I felt very safe, very encouraged and was able to make  decisions in partnership with my provider.”

Catherine McDonald, Perinatal Psychotherapist

"The community birth center model offers families seeking the supportive warmth of a home birth but the structure of a birthing facility, under the diligent care of a team of seasoned midwifery professional…and is an antidote to the very real crisis of inadequate maternal and postpartum care nationwide.”

Adina Gianelli JD

"As our town blooms in the arts, offers unique experiences and draws impressively talented people to the area, it is ripe for also offering cutting edge attention to pregnancy, birth and the postpartum experience. I hope, with everything in me, that is project moves forward."

Nicole Stevens, LICSW

"Ginny has a stellar reputation in the community and is responsible for the wonderful birthing experiences  of many families in our community."
